        Turned And Saw You There
         by William
'Doc' Haggerty   I turned and saw you there Perched upon the stool. You had appeared from nowhere Could I have been such a fool?   I must have circled 'round the place At least a dozen or more times. I should've remembered seeing you. Real or just imagined in my mind?   Ask her to dance, I thought You've nothing left to lose. So I spoke to you immediately It wasn't hard to choose.   You said that you would love to dance It seemed so easy for you too. You bounded right up off the chair And toward the dance floor you then flew.   You stopped and then turned back to me Motioning for me to come along. I caught my breath and followed As in a dream or entrancing song.   I couldn't believe how fine you looked Sculpted flawless by design. From your pleasing autumn colors To your smooth and shapely lines.   When we danced I was in heaven Holding you securely in my arms. The waltz was right on rhythm I felt enchanted by your charms.   And then it had to happen The night came to an end. I'd go back from where I came. What we had was just pretend.   I still think of you quite often. If only you were with me now. So I'm going to be back there. We'll be together, I sure wish I knew how.   I turned and saw you there Perched upon the stool. You looked so gorgeous and sublime And something else, particularly cool. |
