Mississippi Queen For A Day

by William 'Doc' Haggerty

She tickled my fancy

In a storybook way.

As we traveled the dance floor

Me and my Mississippi Queen for a day.

I felt I could help her

To stay out of the middle.

As discussing the two-step

She said she knew little.

It was fun when we screwed up

And tripped on our feet.

We just kept on moving

Right to rhythm and beat.

I coached her and taught her

The different movements I knew.

She caught on quite quickly

'Cross the dance floor we flew.

Before long cameras found us.

Two new dancers of note.

She - a little camera shy.

Me - a lesson well wrote.
